The Staff Accountant will be a key member of the Administration team designed to provide value-added customer service to all of our locations. This position will report to the Accounting Manager and will manage day-to-day transactional activities for inventory as well as special projects as they arise. Within the scope of the position responsibilities, the team member will learn to apply the Company Business System to both continually improve and eliminate waste within the business system.  These business processes will provide world-class service, meet corporate values and enhance satisfaction.

This position will regularly interface with the Operations and Commercial teams through process support, administration of the Company's control framework, and ad-hoc projects.

This position is accountable for, but not limited to the following:

  1. Point person on troubleshooting day-to-day inventory issues relating to packing slips, work orders, cycle counts
  2. Set standard costs for all inventoried items every fiscal quarter
  3. Perform certain day-to-day inventory transactions and conversions
  4. Prepare production reports and review with plants weekly
  5. Prepare journal entries for purchase card transactions, review GL coding on all transactions
  6. Track capital expense reports and construction progress account for fixed asset projects
  7. Prepare month-end journal entries for fixed assets placed in service, depreciation, prepaid amortization, price variance.
  8. Develop and refine new and existing business processes and procedures using industry best practices.
  9. Participate in cross-functional events to improve business practices
  10. Other duties may be assigned such as censuses, municipal tax returns, etc.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  2. Thrive in a team-oriented and collaborative environment where continuous improvement is highly valued.
  3. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook). Proficiency with Microsoft AX or similar integrated ERP package desired.  
  4. Ability to problem solve within a cross-functional environment.
  5. Organized and detail oriented. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage deadlines.
  6. Commitment to working within a cross-functional team.

Education: BA/BS in Accounting or Finance

Experience: 2-3 years related experience
